I started at the beginning of the year and made a commitment to stitch every evening after bedtime to start working through my DMC kits and this is the first finish of 2024 😍 I have a frame ready and hopefully soon it'll be done and hanging on the wall
Finally finished this character in gacha life two with some motivation 🙌 . Using the free base helped alot with the look, I love how it turned out. I think her name should be Melissa or Melody but idk yet.

I’m also tagging @kimvtae because we were screaming about the concept of a skater boy Tae together.

You’ve always had a very peculiar habit of being drawn towards the things you couldn’t even imagine yourself doing—although you could argue that’s exactly why you found yourself naturally gravitating towards them in the first place. Unlike most people, who might have been taken by an envious desire to take on certain challenges and obstacles that were most likely out of their league, you found a natural peace chasing after something you couldn’t quite obtain yourself.
Maybe it was your own self-awareness or the fact that you never felt confident enough to branch out towards something that was so clearly on the opposite end of the spectrum from what you were normally use to. You’ve always just been content watching other people take on their passions while you remained on the sidelines with your own hopes and dreams and aspirations. It always excited you to see people participating in their interests—so much so that friends would always humor you that it was always the people rather than the activity they were indulging in that drew you in towards them.
That’s probably why you accepted your best friend’s invitation to leave your apartment for once and drive down to the pier, taking refuge across one of the many skateparks that planted themselves across the oceanfront, beyond the cool sand and ocean breeze of spring. Jeon Jungkook always reprimanded you for rarely having the time to come out and see him perform his new spins and flips, which is probably why he seems much more animated than usual at the prospect of finally getting to show off these new skills to you.

Once every five years, when the June solstice arrives and graces the sky with the midnight sun, a comet dashes by.
It is more than just a blinking light that moves at an unhinged speed. According to what you’ve heard, it looks like it stills in the middle of the vastness of space, and its tail flickers and shimmies in long tendrils of vibrant colors full of meaning — a subtle force that speaks to the humans who look up to the stars and set their eyes on the glowing meteorite, unique but just as intense for every single gaze. It speaks of soulmates and fate, of heavy truths and indelible bonds.
Each person sees a different pool of colors. You’ve heard more than a thousand stories, of people who saw the colors of the fireplace and others who were seized by the soothing hues of woodland during dawn. You’ve read about colors that go from the red blush of a beach beneath the sunset to the ivory traces of a wintry hill covered in thick snow. The colors do not give them the name of their soulmates, but once they find their other half, they will see those rich tones reflected in their lover’s eyes.

Art Update:
Well I certainly meant to be posting art more frequently. But toddler-induced plague put our household out of commission for a few days, which put a cramp in my style.
At any rate, this is the first “finished” spread for Princess Kadri. (Obviously it’s important to note that text and image placement might change, colors might change, etc etc.) You’ll notice that this is a different style from the previous in-progress update that I posted. While the painterly style was lovely, it proved too time consuming were I to use that style for all of the illustrations.
Thankfully, I’m still pretty happy with the new cel style shading. It has the added effect of brightening the colors, which will be great for our youngest readers (my own daughter included).
I posted some more updates over on the Princess Charming tumblr.
I’ve been sending in-progress updates to Josh with the status of spreads as I complete them, so I thought this would be a good example to show a bit of my process. Before any shading happens, I lay down all the flat colors. This way I make sure that the colors look good in the whole image before getting bogged down in the minutiae of lighting.
…although now that I look at these, I notice that I forgot to turn the cobweb layer back on in the final image. Drat! There’s always something.
One more finished piece (that I’m quite proud of), and another piece still in progress.
Grinding away at the Princess Charming art.
I always need some kind of noise - preferably a movie or tv show - when I’m working on art. But in order to not be distracting, it can’t be something I haven’t seen or something that is too interesting. (Crime procedurals are fantastic for this purpose.)
When I started working on finishing Princess Charming art, I started re-watching Buffy on Netflix. (I’ve seen it before and the snappy dialogue keeps me entertained without needing to watch it.) Since the KickStarter ended, I’m up to Episode 9 of Season 3. Considering that Buffy has 22 episode seasons, I think that’ll tell you how much work I’m putting in on this.
